On the Wheel of the Year, Imbolc marks the halfway point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox~ although we are still cloaked in deep winter, there is a palpable shift in energy. The subtle signs of spring everywhere whisper to us of her upcoming rebirth, and we slowly begin stirring to wake with the Earth after the stillness and shadow work of winter.

With the hardest days behind, our ancestors would be cautiously celebrating the end of the season. Translated sometimes as “in the belly” or “ewe’s milk” because it would be at this time farmers would learn which animals had become pregnant~ meaning there would be delicious fresh milk and cheese soon coming after months of root cellar rationing.

The Celts held 'the drop of eternity that is the threshold and hinge between darkness and light, between time and eternity' to be contained in this void time, and through sound we access this primordial realm.
